The Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health is now sending out first appointment letters to those who were referred in September 2022 (note: This date refers to the furthest point we have reached in the list. Some people who were referred before this time may not have had their letter yet but will soon. There are a total of 3578 people on the waiting list)
Please note that if you have a preference for either and on-line or face-to-face appointment, you are free to choose which is best and let us know. Please note that there may be occasions when there is a clinical need to be seen in-person.

If you were referred before this date, please contact us on 0115 876 0160.
We have recently had some unexpected changes in our workforce and so this has led to increased demand on our current staff.
Unfortunately as a result, the waiting time between first and second appointments has increased and we are booking second appointments for people seen in June 2023. We will continue to try to reduce this time and it is extremely important that if people cannot attend their appointment that they let us know 48 hours before so that we can try to give that appointment to someone else.
We apologise to everyone waiting for a second appointment and appreciate how challenging this can be, we are doing all we can to see people as soon as possible. If you do need support during this time, please contact your GP or local service open to you and of course there is the Telephone Support Line. View our support groups section.
Please note that if you have a preference for either and on-line or face-to-face appointment, you are free to choose which is best and let us know. Please note that there may be occasions when there is a clinical need to be seen in-person.
The letters are sent in order of how long a person has been on the waiting list to keep the system fair for all. If your address has change recently or since you were referred, please update your details with your GP. This will also update our own system so the letter is sent to your correct address.
Last month 24 people did not show up for their appointments. Please let the clinic know as soon as possible if you can't make your appointment so the slot can be re-allocated to somebody else.
If for any reason, now being seen for a first or even second appointment is not the right time for you, please let us know. We will send you and your GP a discharge letter, however it will say that you are welcome back to the clinic for the next available appointment when the time is right. You wont go to the bottom of the waiting list, we may ask your GP for an update letter if it has been a while since we saw you or your referral is made however you will be given the next appointment available.
We know that life can mean your appointment time is no longer ideal.
If you know ahead of time this is the case, please call 0115 876 0160, ideally within 48 hours, but if that is not possible, as soon as you can. We can then re-book you for another time.
The Centre has recently upgraded the computer system that we use to make patient appointments and send out patient letters. We are still seeing as many patients as we always have and are sending out letters and appointments every day.
We had to change our processes slightly while we moved from one system to another and this means that at the moment, the letter that you receive following an appointment will not contain the date of the next one. Instead, this will be sent out in a separate letter or email, it has no effect on the length of time that you will be waiting to be seen and is a temporary measure.
